Rates / InsuranceAffordable Therapy
I'm committed to providing affordable therapy as much as possible. My self-pay rate is $125 per session hour. The first session for intake/assessment is $175. These rates are significantly lower than the area median. To understand what is a fair or typical fee for therapy in your area, visit Healthcare Bluebook or Fair Health Consumer. Type in your zip code and search for “psychotherapy” or CPT codes 90834 (psychotherapy 45-minutes), 90837 (psychotherapy 60 minutes) or 90791 (psychosocial assessment). In my area, the current range is $192-281 for psychotherapy sessions and $333 for assessments. Payment Methods I accept checks or cash including digital cash payments via Zelle. Insurance Most insurance now covers some individual therapy. Using insurance for psychotherapy requires a diagnosis and access to records, and can lead to a third party dictating the length and number of sessions. For some, this may limit the benefits or success of therapy. For these reasons, some people understandably elect to not use insurance for therapy. If you choose to use insurance, I will do my best to help you understand and access your plan's benefits. It is your responsibility to confirm whether or not services will be covered by your insurance. In-Network I am in-network with most Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC plans (not Blue Value, Blue Local, Blue Home UNC or Blue HPN). I file claims for in-network sessions. For in-network sessions, patients provide verification of benefits prior to the first session and pay a copay or coinsurance at the time of the session. Out-of-Network* Many insurance companies provide out-of-network benefits and may reimburse you of a percentage of costs depending on your plan. Payment for out-of-network sessions is made at each session at the self-pay rate. When requested, I can provide information as an out-of-network provider that you may submit to your insurance company to be reimbursed by your insurance according to your plan's benefits. *Contact your insurance about your plan's out-of-network benefits and whether your deductible has been met. Some plans reimburse out-of-network services at 100% after the deductible has been met. Good Faith Estimate Beginning January 1, 2022, the federal No Surprises Act updated laws regulating client care. Under this law, healthcare providers are required to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges, including psychotherapy services. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises. Open Path Psychotherapy Collective Open Path provides affordable therapy for its members through a national network of therapists. I do not offer a sliding scale fee, however I am a participating Open Path therapist. I reserve a limited portion of my practice during afternoon hours for Open Path members at Open Path rates of $30-$60 per session. To learn more about Open path or become an Open Path member, visit Open Path online. I maintain a wait list for registered Open Path members who provide their Open Path ID. |
